Organised under the auspices of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Russian Seasons is a major international initiative dedicated to showcasing the richness and diversity of Russian culture abroad. Through music, theatre, film, visual arts, and educational projects, the programme reflects Russia’s enduring commitment to preserving and developing its cultural heritage while engaging in creative dialogue with the world.

This opening concert brings together an exceptional group of internationally acclaimed artists led by Denis Matsuev, People’s Artist of Russia, whose virtuosity and improvisational flair form the heart of the evening. He is joined by distinguished soloists Borislav Strulev (cello), Ekaterina Mochalova (domra), Andrei Ivanov (double bass), Sofia Tyurina (saxophone), Sofia Viland (flute), and David Tkechuchava (drums), under the direction of Conductor Yuri Tkachenko, Honored Artist of Russia.

The programme moves freely across genres, featuring highlights such as Leonard Bernstein’s sparkling Candide Overture, jazz-inspired improvisations on Grieg’s Peer Gynt and Khachaturian’s Sabre Dance, and imaginative reworkings of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee. The concert also explores symphonic jazz through works inspired by Borodin and Paul Desmond, Chick Corea’s iconic Spain, and lyrical moments including Saint-Saëns’s The Swan in a new arrangement.

The Russian Seasons invites audiences in Thailand to experience Russian musical artistry through classical masterpieces with spontaneous creativity.
